You know those people in your life—the ones you can go weeks or months without talking to, yet when you finally reconnect, it feels like no time has passed at all? I hope that's us. It's been a little while since my last note, and with summer passing in a whirlwind of adventures, trips, and memories, it feels like the perfect time to catch up.

After a season of being on the go, I'm thinking about the importance of slowing down. It can feel impossible to be present when life is pulling you in a hundred different directions, but even a few moments of intentional focus can make a world of difference. This week, I'm inviting you to join me in these small, actionable steps:

• Savor a simple moment: Take the time to truly enjoy something small, like the simplicity of a grilled cheese and tomato soup during lunch with friends.

• Stop the scroll: When you find yourself mindlessly scrolling on your phone, put it down and look up. What do you see around you that you might have missed?

• Observe the details: On your next walk, choose one thing—a tree, a patch of flowers, or the texture of a building—and spend a full minute really looking at it.

A few things I’m leaning into this month:

• Slowing down: I'm intentionally taking 15 minutes to sit with my morning coffee just to notice the light surrounding me.

• Trusting my gut: Letting my intuition lead my photography process, allowing myself to chase what truly catches my eye, even if it feels unplanned.

• Being less precious with film: I'm shooting film like I would have with my point and shoot in college—not worrying about every frame, but just having fun and capturing the experiecne.

• Practicing patience: Giving myself permission to make "bad" photos and trusting that the creative journey is a process, not a destination.

A few things I’m loving this month:

• The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin — a beautiful and profound book on the nature of creativity that goes far beyond any specific medium.

• Creative Fuel podcast, hosted by Anna Brones, explores the human experience through the lens of creativity. Each episode focuses on a central question and features conversations with artists, researchers, and scientists to show how creativity is essential in everyone's daily life.
