Biking the California Coastal Trail through Half Moon Bay
Half Moon Bay is just a hop skip and a jump from Palo Alto. It’s home to the Half Moon Bay Coastside Trail, a section of the California Coastal Trail. While still a work in progress, the California Coastal Trail will eventually run the entire length of California from Oregon to Mexico.
Half Moon Bay’s Coastside Trail section offers a 7 mile bike path running directly along the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Offering stunning views of the coast, incredible nature watching, and access to beautiful beaches, this trail is a truly wonderful ride.
Starting at Pillar Point Harbor and heading south, we enjoyed a beautiful leisurely bike ride watching as the marine layer danced off shore before finally giving in to storm clouds as we returned to the parking lot.
Field Lessons on the California Coast
The rugged cliffs, coastal fog, and crashing surf of the Northern California coast offer an incredible classroom for landscape photography. If you want to move past the guesswork, learn how to confidently handle difficult, low-contrast light, and capture breathtaking images that feel entirely like you, let’s head out together.
I offer Private In-Person Lessons throughout the Bay Area, tailored completely to your current skill level. Together, we will look past standard camera settings and focus on the artistic, intentional choices that bring a landscape to life on screen or on film.
