Photography Lessons and Mentoring

Mentoring sessions are available in all shapes and sizes. Whether you are just starting out and want to learn to use your fancy camera or if you want to take your photographs to the next level, I can help you understand how to use your camera, improve your photographs, and create the images that you envision. Lessons are available in person in the Palo Alto area and online via Facetime or Skype.

1-on-1 In-Person Lesson - $150

One-on-one private photography lessons are designed for beginning and intermediate photographers. These sessions are $150 and include two hours of one-on-one mentoring at a public location in the San Francisco Bay Area Peninsula including Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and San Jose.

Beginner lessons will cover:

  • What are all those buttons? We will walk step by step through your camera's buttons and menus so that you have a clear understanding of what they do.

  • The Exposure Triangle: what are aperture, shutter speed, ISO and how do you use them to create a photograph?

  • What are White balance, Autofocus, and Metering?

Intermediate lessons will cover:

  • Review of the foundation photography skills including exposure, white balance, metering, and autofocus.

  • The art of good composition

  • Using design elements to strengthen your photographs

  • Understanding and observing light


Lightroom Editing Lesson - $150

Adobe Lightroom is the best way to edit and organize your digital photographs.  In this private lesson, you will learn to upload, organize, retouch, and share your digital photographs using Adobe Lightroom.  Students should have the most up-to-date version of Adobe Lightroom installed on their laptop computer. Lessons will be offered in the San Francisco Bay Area Peninsula including Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and San Jose.

Some topics we will cover include:

  • Uploading and organizing digital image files on your computer using Lightroom’s advance organization tools

  • Retouching and creatively editing your digital images to improve their overall appearance

  • Exporting your digital images for sharing with friends and family


Online Mentoring - $150

This 2-hour online session will be conducted using Skype or Facetime. I'm an open book and am happy to answer any questions. This is a time for you to set aside to invest in your knowledge, your business, and learn tips + tricks from me.

  • Workflow suggestions

  • Lightroom tips and trips

  • Website review

  • Selling your work

  • Building a photography business

  • Understanding style and vision
