Reminders of Respite- A Photo Walk at the Kirkland Waterfront
The first 3 years that we lived in Washington, we lived just a few blocks from the Kirkland waterfront. Seeing as we moved in 5 days before the Kirkland COVID outbreak and lockdown, the waterfront became a place of respite, a destination to escape the walls of our apartment.
When I planned to drive over from Seattle for brunch with a friend near the waterfront, I left a little early with my camera bag in hopes that the rain would hold off enough for me to get in a short walk along my old path.
Despite the November chill, fall was holding on tight and everywhere that you looked you could spot the seasonâs bright colors. While much has changed in both my life and the world, the waterfront looked same as it ever was, Boats floating along the edges of the docks, geese terrorizing ducks and being largely ignored, quiet symbols of small town charm mixed among the natural beauty.
This return to the waterfront brought comfort and flooded my mind with memories from the years ago that seem like just yesterday.
