The Saltwater Retreat Women’s Photography Workshop 2019

The 2019 Saltwater Retreat had an interesting start. Hurricane Dorian had hit the area a few weeks prior and a series of noreasters continued to point the barrier islands, causing flooding and damage to many homes. We learned the day prior to the retreat that the home we were to stay in would not be available because of flooding. As we scrambled to find a new house, it became apparent that the retreat would need to be held in Nags Head, on the mainland coast of North Carolina, an hour north of Avon.
Despite the chaos, the attendees arrived excited and ready for the experiences of the week ahead. We were able to photograph many new locations because of the location change and also visit some of the old favorites.

The Saltwater Retreat is a women’s photography retreat and creativity workshop designed to educate, inspire and help you become the photographer you long to be. Held on the shores of Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks of North Carolina, this is chance for women photographers to spend a week immersing themselves in the craft of creating photographs without the distractions of home, this photography trip is more of a vacation than a workshop.
