Liberty Bell Framed: Sunset at Washington Pass Overlook

Liberty Bell framed through trees from Washington Pass Overlook

Liberty Bell, 7720 feet

When I planned a trip for my photo friends to join me in exploring the North Cascades, I didn’t plan for wildfires to close the route through the park, forcing us to detour through Leavenworth on our way to Mazama. But, as I’ve learned all too often- nature makes her own plans.

Our plan for the first evening was sunset at Washington Pass Overlook. While there was a slight smoky haze lingering the sky, we were able to enjoy a nice evening exploring the overlook. In the excitement of the first evening spent with out of town friends, I didn’t come away with many photographs but instead memories of chatting and laughing.
