A Blanket of Smoke: Wildfire Weather in Mazama

While we spend the morning in relatively clean blue skies, by sunset the air was thick with smoke from the nearby wildfires. Canyon winds and an intense heat wave created an air quality index deemed very unhealthy as the smoke settled into the valley floor. We packed our gear for an early morning departure and the long detour to our next stop at Mount Baker.
