Early Spring at The Oregon Garden and Silverton

When my friend Nadeen mentioned that she was going to see the tulips in Oregon this spring, I took the opportunity to cross something off my PNW bucket list and tag along. We started our trip with a visit to The Oregon Garden, a beautiful botanical garden with a convenient and charming on site hotel and restaurant.

The gardens were mostly dormant as it was still too early for many of the flowers, however the cherry trees were in full bloom and were breathtakingly beautiful. Nadeen and I hadn’t had the chance to adventure together since our winter trip to Yellowstone, so we wandered slowly through the gardens catching up and occasionally pausing for photographs.

The benefit of traveling with a good friend who knows your photography rhythm is that no one is ever surprised when one of us wanders off mid-sentence.

The next day, we took a stroll through the charming town of Silverton, where I was especially enamored with the murals.

Nadeen had mentioned some interesting barns she had passed, so when I noticed this scene on my dreary drive back to Seattle, I pulled over for a quick photo and to stretch my legs. The wet weather seemed to pair well with the dormant wines and the weathered barn.
